In my last blog I finished by advising readers to look for honesty as a key feature of any Agency they considered working with.
Thinking more about this it does seem that increasingly Clients are using the words trust, straightforward, no-nonsense and honest. We are living in times of expenses scandals’, banking hoodwinks, and fraud and I sense a strong reaction to this in business. Clients are explicitly demanding an open book approach and underlining that any sharp practices or hidden profits will be punished severely.
People seem willing to forgive other foibles and shortcomings provided the person they deal with is sincere and honest.
We don’t have to look very far to see poignant examples of how this may be affecting other current affairs. The Labour Leadership election is producing polls that no one could have predicted. Despite the warnings from senior party figures the membership seem drawn to Jeremy Corbyn like moths to a light and the explanation offered time and again is his open, honest approach, a form of anti-politics. Honest opinions vs spin.
Somewhat ironically we have a similar thing happening across the water. As if to prove that honesty is neither ‘Left’ nor ‘Right’ one is witnessing the rise of Donald Trump as the leading Republican candidate. Despite the clearly controversial views expressed it seems that again the openness and refreshing frankness of Donald is proving a winner with the electorate.
Maybe I’m adding 2 and 2 to get 5 but I honestly (pun intended) believe that having been deceived by politics, the press and the banks for too long we are now convinced that beauty is only skin deep. We will now ask the searching questions because our future bedfellows do not need to look great in the light, they need to be able to answer for themselves in the dark.
And now for something completely different…or is it
Great British Bake Off is back!
Why is it so popular? Sure, The cast is good. The format helps…3 bakes a week mean that everyone has a chance till the end. But there must be more to it. Ok , GBBO is more transparent than Masterchef. All mistakes seem to glare at us and there are no sauces or chutneys to hide behind.
I am no cook but I cant help thinking that the ability to master something that is so simple in concept will always fascinate us. Strictly come dancing is another clear example. The growth of ‘vintage’ and ‘retro’ trends lend weight to the argument that in an increasingly complicated ,confusing and concerning world dominated by technology we yearn for the simple pleasures .
Go GBBO!
Go Personnel Selection ! – simple , honest services
Social Media
As this blog comes to its natural end this time I am reminded by the word count that I’ve not yet reached the recommended length for social media blogs. Of course this is bizarre. Slaves to technology? Search engine children? Where are we headed?
To hit my target here are some reminders of why you may be here.
Jobs, Temp work, career advice, great clients and validated candidates.
IT’S WHAT WE DO BEST
