This year we looked at the whole Christmas card scenario and basically said ‘No, let’s not do it’.
Every year at Personnel Selection, we send out hundreds of Christmas cards. It is sort of a ritual in any business that come the end of September we all start to go through the familiar process of buying, processing and sending hundreds of cards. We do this to wish you all the very best and perhaps also to say a little thank you to our clients and candidates for being part of our year.
It’s not that we don’t value our relationship with you or that we are trying to avoid the cost. In fact, it is exactly the opposite. We decided on reflection that rather than send out a card which, and let’s be honest here, would probably be one more card in the mass of cards you will receive we would use the money elsewhere.
Every one of our branches decided to present the amount of money that would have been spent on the Christmas card list to a local charity. This really adds up and, as you can see by the pictures attached, for a local charity it can mean hundreds of pounds in the coffers.
We chose these charities this year because it is important to us that we are active in supporting the local area need. Despite growing as a company, we have built our reputation over 40 years based partly on servicing our community. We like to think we know the needs of each area and that we bring valuable support to the local community.
Every branch chose its own charity but to give you an idea of how we spent your Christmas card money we supported a range of causes from ‘Off the record’ (a charity that offers counselling to local young people to help them cope with a number of issues) to The Brain Tumour Charity which is working to research, support and raise awareness.
As we continue to grow and spread our services to new communities we want to make sure that we offer something back to those communities. It seems only fair that we recognise our communities in this way.
So thank you for last year and of course we did still wish you all the best for the season in December but, bearing in mind the result, we are sure you will forgive us for not sending you out a Christmas card this year.
